February and Life is Returning to the Garden

Well, it's February, which means we can say, "Next month is Spring!"  At least on the calendar.

But, in the garden there are signs of life, even where I was convinced the plants had died.  Plants are amazing!

I thought these were gone for good:

Angel's Wings Catnip

Creeping Winter Savory

French Tarragon

These perennials are coming back in the Butterfly Garden:

anise hyssop

black-eyed Susan

coreopsis
Now, that Coreopsis doesn't look like it's coming back, but look between last year's growth...

I'm glad I didn't cut back the old growth last fall.  It's protected the new.

There are even flowers blooming in the rock garden:

creeping wallflower just ready to open its buds

sea thrift already in bloom

crocus
Others are emerging from the soil (or budding on the branches) with new Spring growth:

bearded iris

day lilies

tete a tete daffodils

flowering quince
The various mints are plotting garden domination:

citrus basil mint

pineapple mint

spearmint

sweet pear mint
