Garden Poetry - Flowers

FLOWERS

The newest poetry prompt is "flowers!"

SENSES
Sight and smell and touch
taste and hearing all in one
beautiful flower

You might well ask how "hearing" is included?  Just go out and stand near your flower garden, close your eyes, open your ears, and listen to the pollinators buzzing! The sounds of a garden often surpass the smells!  As for "taste," many flowers are edible.  Calendula, bachelor buttons, pansies, nasturtiums, marigolds, and carnations are just a few.  No, I don't eat them, but many do!

RAINBOWS
Rainbows are not air-
born beings solely above
Look down to the blooms

lance-leaf coreopsis
bachelor buttons
Radio Red autumn sage
Moonshine yarrow
Gay Butterflies butterfly weed
Up Tick coreopsis
morning glory
portulaca
dwarf cosmos
Indian blanket flower
California golden poppy
bearded iris
sparaxis
crocus
crocus
bearded iris
primrose
Do I have a favorite flower?  In the garden, probably not, although I am partial to winter pansies.  The colors and patterns are just so clean and perfect.  They're happy little flowers, hardy, even blooming under a snowy blanket.
