It's a satellite cone of Mount Shasta, which is just out of photo range, formed around 9 or 10,000 years ago. There's a Class 2 trail to the summit, a half-day hike.

ReplyDeleteIt is a sight to come upon as you drive the highway! It's not, to me, attractive closer up, because it's bare of trees. It's at its best with snow.
