Skywatch Friday - May 7, 2021 (and Floral Friday Fotos)

 Skywatch Friday

I think they are altocumulus clouds.  To me they look like tractor tracks.  A little bit different from the usual clouds I see.  Certainly not a pretty as puffy cumulus against a blue blue sky!

Floral Friday Fotos

 The Moonshine yarrow is blooming!

In the A to Z last month I used Johnny Jump-ups for J and Violas for V.  While Johnny Jump-ups are a kind of viola, here's the difference.

Johnny Jump-ups jump up on tall stems.  These are volunteers from last year.

Violas stay short.

Dog feet.  Yes, I am posting a photo of dog feet.  I just think they looked cute.  They're spotted!

Those are Mickey's feet.  I filled his pool, his first time ever with one.  He likes it and mostly walks in circles with his muzzle under water.

This photo illustrates how my yard really looks!  It's not all pretty flower beds and manicured pathways!  I am working on killing the grass in this farthest back part of the backyard.  The clump of Virginia creeper in the upper right is hiding the compost pile (concrete block sides).  It wasn't planned, I didn't know it would grow from "composted" stems!   If I don't get new weed eater line I'm going to have to break out the hand clippers and cut those edges.

I wanted the soil from a container that had old daffodil bulbs, so after removing them I planted them in the herb garden.  I've never had a dog so interested in what I'm doing in the garden as Mickey.  I've had Border collie mixes and Australian Cattledog mixes before, and they were smart.  But, Mickey is a different kind of smart.  A trouble-making smart, a watch-and-figure-it-out smart.  His trainers say he "over-thinks things."  So, he saw me bury something (the bulbs) and as soon as I turned my back to put the trowel away, he had to find out what.

Enjoy the weekend.  My weekends aren't any different from the rest of the week, other than there's no mail on Sunday!  Saturday is Six on Saturday, so see you then!

  1. That's a good cloud analogy. I've seen clouds like that before. Mickey looks like one lucky dog!!

    1. Yes, I think he's a lucky dog! If only because he used to sleep in a crate, now he sleeps on my bed, and not on the edge either! What's the point of a pet if we don't spoil them? I read once that a pet is part of our life, but we are its entire life. I feel sad every time I think of that.

  2. It does kind of look like tractor tracks in the sky. Your Moonshine yarrow is so gorgeous. The paw shot is adorable, I have paw shots of all my fur babies too. Mickey is so cute and I knew he was a very smart boy. I hope he enjoys his pool time. :)

    1. Oh, cats have such tiny cute paws too! Mickey is enjoying the pool daily. I have to change the water in it today, he alternates between pool and digging, pool and digging, racing around the yard... repeat.

  4. I'll have to show husband later. I know altocumulus look kind of clumpy and they are some of my favorite clouds to photograph. So, that's what distinguishes Johnny jump ups from violas - I didn't know that!

    1. I should have mentioned that the flowers of Johnny Jump-ups are much smaller too. Cuter.

  5. I love your garden. Today my wife is planting flowers in containers in the back yard. She loves flowers and getting her hands in the dirt and that is one of her happy places. My job is to move stuff around and I am good with that.

    I love tractor tire skies!!

    1. Moving stuff around is an important job! Especially if the stuff is heavy! I have an adult son who does the heavy lifting for me!
