Wordy Wednesday - June 8, 2022

 So, my new-to-me refurbished computer did come yesterday, but it was missing the monitor power cord!  The company responded right away to the contact form telling them, and have already sent one out to me.  A few more days...  The computer is really nice, and while the monitor isn't the same brand (they sell refurbished HPs, and send whatever monitors they have at the time), it's big and Toshiba.  

At first I was going for Wordless today, but decided against it, based on having quite a few things to share.  First the pretties. 

 This is part of the Toss Garden where I did plant some things on purpose.  The godetia is a volunteer. 

Calendula Pink Surprise isn't quite as pink as expected, but still very pretty.

 

The petals overlapping remind me of bird feathers.

Now, I didn't notice until now, but the rest can be seen as pretty, or interesting, or not, depending on your viewpoint on spiders and snails and such.  

First, the artichoke is outdoing itself.  It's four years old (from seed) and they can live six.  It's never had stems grow so tall before, so I wonder if it's putting on a last show?

The artichoke hearts certainly are not photogenic!  They were delicious though.

A snail out late in the morning was caught nibbling on an artichoke.  I relocated it to the compost pile.

 Snails also left their mark on the Powwow Wild Berry coneflower.  I'd like to catch that one!  When I first moved here I had no snail problems.  Then again, there weren't any plants either!

A crab spider on a lance-leaf coreopsis.  You can see why they are called "crab" spiders.  This is the biggest I've seen.

See that corner of yellow up in the left?  That's yarrow, and it had a crab spider too!   I see them on the yarrow all summer long.
