Tuesday Treasures - July 8, 2025

My son and I took a trip to Ashland to check out a Goodwill we'd never been to before.  Well, we'd been to the old location, but not the newly opened one.  It still was the weakest in the area.  We both thought the prices were higher than the other Goodwill locations. Maybe because it was Ashland.

I did find three works of art, all professionally framed.  Two were rather inexpensive, the other my son offered to me as an early birthday present (my birthday is in August).

My present is this untitled work on newsprint by California artist Mary Pedri (1912-2008).  22" by 27 1/2" framed size.

I am able to date this to 1963 due to the exhibit label on the back.  It looks like it won an award of some sort.  It also had a label and lot number suggesting it had been part of a much more recent fundraiser at $150.00.  He got it for under $20.00.

A fabulous colorful original painting!  No signature.  17" x 21" image size, but in a frame.

My eye was drawn to this young man, and he was cheap, and an original painting.

I don't expect to make a special trip to that Goodwill again, but I'm glad we went this one time.  One other purchase will be mentioned in an upcoming Tuesday Treasures post.

  1. The picture of the young man begs to know who he is and who painted him.
