Himalayan Blackberry: a Beautiful, Delicious Invasive

Six Word Saturday

  1. I had never heard of himalayan blackberries until now. I did some quick research and apparently they are found mostly on the West Coast. But who knows how long that will last? I also just read they are almost impossible to eradicate. I wonder if goats would eat them, not a good option in the city or suburbs, though.

    1. They are terrible! Goats can be used, however the plants pop up from underground rhizomes. Also, chopping the plants can be worse, as they grow from any node and also canes that touch the ground root at the tips. They grow into huge brambles and clog up creeks. I thought I'd gotten rid of mine, but they snuck in with the roses without my seeing them. The berries do make great jam!
