It's Daylily Time! June 27, 2025
The daylilies are a few weeks behind last year's bloom time, but they've started!
Left is Gordon Biggs blooming for the first time. He was planted bareroot in 2023. On the right is good ol' Stella d'Oro, a bit less gold than the common landscaping ones around town.

May May standing tall above the Angel Shasta daisies.
Two Moons: Left is Moon Music, right Moon Over Monteray (not my spelling)
Wayside Knight Royale for sure on the left. The right? Similar, but a much smaller plant with smaller flowers, shorter petals. Neither are the "proper" color either, which should be a dark purple. Something about the soil I guess, although the plants aren't in the same are of the front yard.
Lullaby Baby on the left, and Ned's Choice on the right. He's a spider variety, which is a daylily with petals at least four times longer than they are wide.
Longfield's Pink something

The Ditch Lily or Orange Daylily is an invasive in some eastern and central U.S. states. Mine haven't spread at all, just gotten larger.
I'm still waiting on quite a few others, including two spiders.

The Common Ditch Lily grows everywhere here, but it's delight.
ReplyDeleteIt is a pretty one. Very tall, so I'm glad I have it in the backyard not near other things.
DeleteWow, that's a lot of daylilies.
ReplyDeleteIt didn't seem like a lot until I took all the photos! There are more to come.
DeleteAll are beautiful, but I think Stella d'Oro is my favorite!
ReplyDeleteI like my Stella d'Oro, it's more lemon yellow than gold. Loads of blooms too. I guess that's why it's such a popular plant, here at least, around parking lots and businesses.
