    1. It made a good "geologic detail" I think! When I was a girl my mother always wanted to visit the Craters of the Moon, and while we did go on a family vacation, I have no memories of it! I have some small lava tubes in my herb garden. I'm not sure where my brother got them, but he used to go arrowhead hunting out in the desert somewhere, so maybe there.

  2. I've heard of Craters of the Moon, but this was not what I expected. They look almost like gnarled and fused tree trunks.

  3. That first one is creepy. That fault is very deep. (I saw something somewhere where the guy was explaining where a fault was. He was standing in a parking lot. The fault was through the parking lot.)

  4. The lava has an extraterrestrial look, I can see how it got its name. Hope its not going to come alive:)

    1. It does look like some alien worm creature in an old Star Trek! It would be huge, and they'd be walking on it.

    1. They are. In Lassen there is Subway Cave, a huge lava tube you can walk through. It curves, and you NEED a flashlight!
