Tuesday Treasures - June 17, 2025

 A few weeks ago, and then again last week, St. Vincent de Paul had bunch of vintage and antique postcards, including some RPPC (Real Photo Post Cards) for $1 or 50¢.  I tried to narrow them down for this post, really I did!

Quite an unusual pose for a studio portrait!  Perhaps there's a story behind it.  A school yearbook?  Strongman competition winner newspaper photo?  AZO 1904-1918

I'm glad I took a second look through, as these are the same three in more proper poses!

Hilo Hattie - I'd actually heard of her, at least heard her name mentioned. DOPS 1925-1942 (The Wikipedia page shows this image as 1941.)  While she didn't found the stores bearing the same name, she did allow it "... for a price, but also out of friendship."

Ok, let's wind it up here.  

Cougar Mountain Lodge, Idaho.  EKC 1930-1950  The cars are from late 1930s to mid-1940s.  The Lodge was established in 1938, and is currently for sale.

The age of RPPC can be determined by what is printed in the stamp box.  If there is no stamp of course!  The company and details like which way triangles or arrows are pointed, or how the dotted lines are arranged narrow down the dates.  The last is the only one that may not be out of copyright by date, but it has no copyright notice, which makes it in the public domain.
