Sunday Stamps - May 11, 2025
This week's Sunday Stamps brings us Women.
Ireland 1987 - Rose of Tralee International Festival
Japan c1948 - Cotton Weaver Factory Worker
Soviet Union (USSR) 1952 - While listed as either a factory worker or a soldier, her clothing suggests a "tractor driver" according to other sources. Images of agriculture and industry workers were common during the Soviet era, promoting socialist ideology and working classes contributions.
Serbia 2018 - Nadežda Petrović, Serbian painter and war photographer
What's the theme for next week? Shields, Crests, and Heraldry.
The Irish stamp is bright and cheerful. I also like the Serbian stamp. Happy Mother's Day!

ReplyDeleteAn interesting, global selection!
ReplyDeleteWomen in all sorts of different situations. Nice selection.
ReplyDeleteI prefer the working women to the beauty contests, but I recognise that the first stamp is a great illustration!
