The thrift stores certainly provided artwork recently!  Three pieces in the same day!

St. Vincent de Paul had this amazing 24" x 30" abstract face.  Not for everyone, but I find it incredible!

It's only signed "Harvey," and with no artist title given, I'm calling it "Harvey."

I'm not sure giving the measurements is enough to visualize how big this is!  It's this big.  BIG big!  Not my biggest painting, however the image make it look a lot bigger.  Harvey is impressive!

Then on to Goodwill after a grocery store stop.  Two things caught my eye, and rather than deciding which to get, I decided to get them both!  They were cheap!

Signed "May" this is 15 1/2" x 19 1/2" (frame size) colorful beach scene painting.  The frame is plain silver metal.  The colors are what caught my eye with this one.

I don't care for Norman Rockwell, which this isn't.  However, it is a similar style, and the artist, Francis Tipton Hunter, illustrated The Saturday Evening Post, as did Rockwell.  Why I like it in spite of the Rockwell style is because of the puppies!  Which puppy would you pick?  I surprised myself not going for one of the sleeping spaniels on the left, and picking the little terrier with the brown ears closest to the boy.

The name of the print is "Down, But Not Out." c1950s.   I opened the back out of curiosity (the image above it out of the frame), as a print this old wouldn't originally been matted.  The mat is yellowed, so it isn't acid-free.  On the back of the print is a pencil price of $7.50.  So, purchased before acid-free mats became the go-to choice, and framed in a nicely chosen frame to look from the same time period as the print.  There are calendar page prints too, more vertical than this, with a birdcage above the puppies, and cutting off the two right-hand pups.

Now, where to hang them?  🤣

    1. It's just hit and miss! And looking often. I've been coming out of that Goodwill empty handed for quite a while.

    1. Definitely! The print fit in a bookcase. I had to take down something in my room for the May painting. Harvey is still propped up in my room.
