Sunday Stamps - September 22, 2024

The Color Yellow is the theme for this week's Sunday Stamps.

Let's start off with some Yellow Labradors!

Japan 1995, World Veterinary Congress, Yokohama

USA 2019, Military Working Dogs

A yellow border with a golden Cocker.

Manama - Dependency of Ajman (UAR) 1972, Dogs and Cats (gold frame)

Libya c1964 "The Libyan Woman in Her New Epoch" illustrated by a moth emerging from a cocoon and a modern woman emerging from a veiled one.  It was in 1964 women in Libya gained the right to vote, but they were still considered second class citizens.  Things were better for them after the revolution in 1969, although I wouldn't say they've been able to shed off all the cocoon trappings.

What's next week hold for us?  Skies!

  1. I didn't know that those labradors are "yellow"!

    1. Yes! Labradors come in yellow, black, and chocolate. Oh, some rarer ones, like silver, but the most common are those three. Golden Retrievers though aren't called yellow.

  2. Golden labs have good dispositions to be family dogs. Thanks for sharing.

  3. I love that image on the Libyan stamp. Perhaps there was so much hope in those early days for more freedom. The first one is interesting - I would not have thought of Japanese and labs together!

  4. I like the Lybia stamp and the explanation of the image. The dog on the Manama stamp is adorable (just like Mickey!).

  5. I like the military dog with its camouflage. The Libyan stamp is thought provoking, better than other countries in that region.

  6. Beautiful yellow labs but that Libyan stamp - it's well that the woman in the shadows didn't know what awaited their country in the next few years under the rule of a terrible dictator. Still, it was a historic stamp in its own way.

  7. The moth emerging from the cocoon is a powerful symbol of transformation. I'm curious about the significance of yellow in the Libyan stamp, as it reminds me of the yellow in my Cory Aquino stamp. It's inspiring to see how women's status and roles have evolved worldwide. Even though there's still progress to be made, the strides that have been taken are truly remarkable. And of course, I can't resist the charm of yellow Labrador dogs!
