Sunday Stamps - February 23, 2025
No English Words!
That's the theme for this week's Sunday Stamps.
Poland 1963
The Frisia, built in 1872.

Iran c1911
South Korea 1960
Monaco 1955 - Jules Verne Anniversary Series
Five Weeks in a Balloon

Russian Empire 1917
I knew the online translation for this was incorrect, it gave me "what brand." Brand makes sense if we think of it as brand on cattle, a mark. Fortunately, someone who speaks Russian told me the literal translation is "postal mark."
That's all for February. March brings not just four, but five themes! The first, next week, will be Famous Women.
I love the south Korean and Monaco stamps. Nice work on the translation from Cyrillic. In vaccinated by that alphabet
ReplyDeleteThe Monaco stamp is so beautiful. I also like the first from Poland: beautiful ship design.
ReplyDeleteI like that you displayed different alphabet. I am a fan of Jules Verne, so the Monaco stamp would get a special place in my collection.
ReplyDeleteThe elephant and balloon is a winning combination. Very useful to have a Russian speaker on hand.
ReplyDeleteThe Jules Verne elephant is a winner! i am intrigued by the rigging on the Frisia. All those swirly bits on the Russian stamp remind me of my doodles from days past.
ReplyDeleteOne must have lots of foreign stamps to find stamps with this theme ;)
ReplyDeleteOh, yeah... I have those thousands of stamps from that church rummage sale last year! https://lisasgardenadventureinoregon.blogspot.com/2024/03/tuesday-treasures-march-12-2024.html
DeleteI have them separated by foreign and USA, and images of heads and not heads. Most foreign are in envelopes by country. Still, so many to go! I have stamps for nearly any theme!
