Thursday Postcard Hunt - Women Relaxing

Thursday Postcard Hunt finds Women Relaxing.

Relaxing on a Lake Erie peninsula beach at Cedar Point, Sandusky, Ohio.

Taking a relaxing stroll along the Don River in Rostov-on-Don, Russia.

Taking a little nap is relaxing!  An Old Woman Dozing, by Nicolaes Maes.

The reverse translates to "The Old Woman" and "The Drinker."   I like the written message.

She could have been a postcard for last week if she'd stayed awake working.  Or, next week, as that theme is Reading/Handiwork, and she'd been doing both, handiwork and reading.

  1. Nothing more relaxing than a snooze. No snoozing on the beach there is so much to talk about.

    1. When that postcard was made falling asleep on the beach would lead to a bad sunburn. People tried to get tan then! I remember later, in the early 70s trying to get tan.

  2. I am with the old wopmn dozing - try to do too many things at one time and end up sleeping! Cards showing people strolling along a boardwalk, or embankment seem to have been popular in days past.

  3. The old lady is multitasking: reading, sleeping, making lace....(drinking?)

  4. The sleeping woman is me. Although, not so much with the book but with a TV show. Yeah, a nap sounds great about now.

    1. No, there aren't. The airport ones are either city scenes, or views of nature around that city. There must be others, but I guess those sell to the tourists at airports.

    1. They have a certain quaintness to them. Love the bathing suits! The beach was crowded even then ('50s-'60s), I can't imagine it now.
