 Thursday Postcard Hunt

Clocks - or daily rituals: eating, working, arrivals/departures

The floral clock in Victoria Square, Christchurch, New Zealand, has been keeping time since the mid-1950s.  Over 7,000 plants are planted every spring and autumn.

Clockwork Goofy, Made in Italy.

Next month's theme is Waymarkers.

  1. I love floral clocks! It is such a good way to showcase plants and design. There are two near me and I head out every year to see the design. Though, a cuckoo bird with attitude... :)

    1. In the back of my mind I have a memory of seeing one. I think it was in British Columbia. Maybe Butchart Gardens many years ago. Seems a likely place. The cuckoo has the right idea if it keeps Goofy from attempting a repair!

  2. The floral clock in Victoria Square is such a unique concept – a beautiful display of nature doubling as a timepiece. It must be amazing to see in person all those plants and flowers in bloom!

    1. There must be a gardener working full time to keep it neat and tidy, and working!

  4. I've never seen a floral clock in person.
This one is a beauty. But thinking of the work it must take to keep up. There is a floral clock in the Niagara region of Ontario, although I don't know how far from the falls it is. They change out the flowers twice a year.

  5. A floral clock is a beautiful idea!
When I was a child, owning a cuckoo clock would be a dream!

    1. When I was a child my much older oldest brother was in the army in Germany. He sent my parents a cuckoo clock with a bird and a little man who would slam his door shut after playing some instrument. He also sent me my own cuckoo clock! My younger older brother has it now. I don't know why. I want it!

  6. There used to be a Goofy watch. It ran backwards. I wonder if those are still around. I'm amazed by the garden clock.

  8. ...it's gorgeous, but I don't think that my grandchildren could tell time with it!
