Math Igler's Casino

Home of the Singing Waiters
They Sing - They Serve

Despite the name, this was not a casino as we think of the word, but a popular spot to get some German food and entertainment.  1950s

There are five Thursdays in October, so there's one more post for Food and Drink.  Markets and/or Cafes

One last thing!  I received a World Postcard Day 2024 postcard from Germany (thanks to Postcrossing).

    1. I didn't expect to get one! I've been getting a lot of postcards from Germany, all with my favorite stamp, the Border collie!

  2. I love the first and second postcards and their 40's-50's vibe.

    1. I think there is just something about the older cards! A charm lacking in the newer glossy ones maybe.

  3. Multi tasking waiters, I was imagining them singing as they served until I saw that was a stage. Tom Breneman certainly brings in the crowds, I like old cards with lots of people.

    1. I'm not totally sure they didn't sing as they waited too. Not a lot of information. Some vintage photos online, what outfits they had to wear!

  4. Everyone gathered together to eat and listen to the radio sounds fun. The second card reminded me of a restaurant, Lick's, where the staff would sing as they cooked up your burgers and fries.

    1. I'm not familiar with Lick's, but thanks to the Internet I learned about it!

  5. The American Broadcasting Company... That's ABC, right? Funny how we never use the actual name anymore.

    1. Yes! That's what the back of the card reads. It looks like quite a crowd would show up to the restaurant. There's a Wikipedia page on Breakfast in Hollywood. Now I'm testing myself (without peeking online). CBS - Columbia Broadcasting... Service? NBC is probably National Broadcasting Company. PBS... that S is what I'm unsure of. Service seems wrong. I'll peek!

  6. What a lively atmosphere in the first postcard!
By the way, I also received that World Postcard Day postcard this week (from a penpal in my country).
