Friday Skies and Florals - November 8. 2024

 Skywatch Friday

Floral Friday Fotos

A few mornings ago at the playground.

I have no access on school days, but someone I know works there and took these thinking the steam rising from the wood chips (remember when school yards called it tan bark?) was interesting.  I agreed, they okayed me using them (well, the exact words were "I suppose," but that seems agreement enough!), and while not taken for the sky, I like the sky in them with the sun breaking through the fog.

No fog this morning, just bright blue skies and geese.

Some frost-hardy flowers.

lance-leaf coreopsis

calendulas

This little bee was really pushing it staying out so late on these freezing nights.  I'm not sure it was okay later, as the day might have stayed too cold for it to fly again.  Near the pollen source was warmest for the night.

Have a nice weekend.

  1. I enjoyed both the look of the skies and your video. I wonder what bird is chirping away? Certainly not a goose.

    1. I don't know! Whenever Mickey and I are down there we see crows and turkeys.

  5. Weird on the playground. Were those wood chips just put out? What causes that?

    1. It's like my cedar fence some mornings. After rain or damp fog, the wood is wet, and when the sun hits it it steams. Looks really weird! The photographer wondered if it was the chips heating up, which can happen, but this wasn't it.

  6. ...and I remember when our city playground was blacktop and we survived.
