Sunday Stamps - November 3, 2024
Mustaches are the theme of the week for Sunday Stamps!
And, boy, did I ever find a lot of mustaches on stamps!
I'll start out with a series of famous Romanian writers from 1960. They ALL had mustaches (and receding hairlines)!
That would be plenty of mustaches, but there are a few more recognizable ones to include.
USA 1966
Romania 1960
Mexico 1968
Not to forget Martin Luther King Jr. Which the US seemed to do, as no stamp was issued in his honor until 1979.
Next week the theme will be Military.
Receding hairlines need a nice 'stache to balance the face!
ReplyDeleteDraws our eyes away from the balding! Better than a comb-over.
DeleteGreat stamps! Quite the assortment.
ReplyDeleteYes, with only the mustaches in common!
DeleteWhat an awesome collection!! My favorites are fluffy musyaches: Twain and Einstein
ReplyDeleteThose fluffy ones are fine on stamps, but I don't care for mustaches! Had a boyfriend with one, it was prickly! When my late husband tried to grow one I wouldn't kiss him!
DeleteHow long does someone have to be dead before they can be on a US stamp? I knew this answer at one point, but I don't any longer.
ReplyDeleteI don’t know what it used to be, but there isn’t a waiting period now. Live people are eligible too. Maybe it was within the time period then, but several countries honored him well before the US.
DeleteA lot of grooming gone into some of those Romanian mustaches.
ReplyDeleteYes, I think it would be easier to just shave, but I guess that wasn't the look in Romania then.
DeleteSo, if you don't have a moustache, the quality of your prose is irrelevant. You won't be featured on a stamp! :D
ReplyDeleteIt does seem that way! You have to look good for the media.
