Sunday Stamps - November 10, 2024
Military stamps is the theme this week for Sunday Stamps.
Japan 1937-1938
Admiral Tōgō Heihachirō (1848-1934)
USA 2015
Medal of Honor: Vietnam War FDC
Romania 1958
Armed Forces Day showing a fighter pilot and a Mikoyan Gurevich MiG-17. I always thought he was astride the plane, but I think he's just standing in front of it with his lower body hidden!
USA 2019
Military Working Dogs series
clock-wise from top left
Labrador Retriever, Dutch Shepherd, Belgian Malinois, German Shepherd
Headshots are the stamps next week.
The positioning on the Romanian stamps does look off. And I like seeing the medals on stamps (I've never seen a real one up close)
ReplyDeleteNor have I. Not a military one, I've seen a Nobel prize medal.
DeleteYeah, if you don't look closely at the Romanian one, it could look like he was astride the plane. That's not a good graphic design.
ReplyDeleteI like the Romanian stamp. But of course, the dogs stamps are my favorite!!
ReplyDeleteMine too! I almost have all the A to Z countries I need for dogs! Well, I have to cheat on a few countries, and while Q is Qatar, they do not feature dogs on their stamps! Yes, I start planning my April A to Z this early!
DeleteI have featured the military working dogs stamps before - a good series. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the link to Sunday Stamps!
ReplyDeleteI was happy to learn of it, and Thursday Postcard Hunt too, from a comment I read on an A to Z April Blogging Challenge post.
DeleteI'd never heard of a Belgian Malinois , after googling they sound like amazing dogs. I love the camouflage effect of the set.
ReplyDeleteMalinois are getting quite (too) popular. They are a bit like a German Shepherd on steroids as far as absolutely needing stimulation, both physical and mental. NOT suitable for average family life! Different from the Border collie need for the same.
DeleteNice you thought of military dogs for this theme!
