Sunday Stamps - December 29, 2024

A Favorite is the theme this week for Sunday Stamps
A favorite?  As in singular favorite stamp?  Can I have four favorites?

Favorite Dog Stamp

Germany 2024 on a Postcrossing postcard.

Favorite Myth on a Stamp (or Stamp With a Lot Going On)

Latvia 2022 on a Postcrossing stamp.
The Heavenly Father is seen feeding the Grass Snakes, venerated by ancient Latvians as guardians of cows.

Favorite Image on a Stamp Because it's Strange

USA 1998 - one of the Celebrate the Century stamps for the 1900s. Celebrate the Century stamps featured important events for each decade.

The backs give more information, which is good as the front of this is quite confusing!  I am guessing the Act put an end to snake oil remedies.

Favorite Stamp I Think is Cute

Australia 2025 - Signs of the Times, celebrating heritage-listed iconic signs from the Golden Age of neon advertising.  The Pink Poodle Motel in Surfers Paradise is a popular honeymoon destination.

We've reached the end of 2024.  2025 begins a new year of stamps with the first week of Illustrations.

    1. I just happened to see it online looking at other stamps. It was so odd I had to have it!

  2. You can have as many favourites as you like - I had a difficult time choosing mine! The Latvian snakes creeped me out more than I expected. The man vs skeleton is indeed confusing. The motel sign is definitely my favourite!

    1. Yes, that snake on is quite unusual! He needs to be nice to those snakes, and not just to watch over the cows, they are keeping their eyes on him!

  3. All four stamps are great, and certainly deserve the title of favourite! I like inusual illustrations on stamps, as they make me to research further.

  5. I love, love, love the dog stamp. And the skeleton fighting with the man who is "whacking" him is awesome!

    1. Border Collies are my favorite! I've not had a pure one, but several mixed with Border Collie, including my current dog.

  6. Well grass snakes do rely on the element of surprise when hunting and that stamp surprised me:) Great design if a little unsettling. I love neon signs, the pink poodle hotel, too funny.

    1. So they? I'll have to read up on them, I was too interested in the feast for them to wonder about actual grass snakes.

  7. I'm with you. I can never pick one favorite of anything. Pick a few.

    1. Are you a Gemini? I have a relative who is, and she can't narrow things down to one! Favorite ice cream? "Chocolate." "No! Vanilla!"
