O Is for Onion

 O is for Onion.

These are Welsh onion, a type of bunching onion.  They aren't Welsh.  They are perennial, so I only winter sowed them once.  Originally I grew them for the flowers, however I now use them as green onions.

  1. It must be so cool to cook with plants you grew.

    1. It is! I don't use a lot of big onion bulbs, just in chili or stews, I like the taste, but not the texture of them cooked. So, when I need just a little onion these are great. Plus perennial!

    1. Welsh comes from the German word for foreign or not-native, "walsch". It's native to China. A lot of things could be called Welsh in that case!
